Ani Ter-Martirosyan's game is characterized by special emotionality and passion. She is held in high esteem by critics above all for her feather-light virtuosity (Neue Zürcher Zeitung) and her poetic, sensitive sound.

  • Ani Ter-Martirosyan received scholarships from various well-known foundations, including the Wagner Foundation, the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation, the Werner Richard – Dr. Carl Dörken Foundation, the Germany Scholarship and the Gulbenkian Foundation.

Of particular importance on her artistic path has been the one-year collaboration with the Conservatorio di Musica Santa Cecilia di Roma, where she was given the unique opportunity to play historical instruments such as the harpsichord and fortepiano.

In addition to her work as a soloist, Ani Ter-Martirosyan also performs as a versatile chamber musician and song pianist. She performs on stage with various chamber music partners and singers with a wide variety of repertoires from contemporary music to romantic art songs throughout Germany and internationally.

On top of the classical-romantic repertoire, which is one of the pianist's outstanding strengths, Ani Ter-Martirosyan is also committed to performing the works of contemporary composers, not least thanks to her membership in the Association of Young Armenian Composers and Performers.

Ani Ter-Martirosyan is also a representative musician of the Schumann Society in the context of the composer Clara Schumann-Wieck. Her artistic commitment to the society was recognized through a sponsorship of one of Clara Schumann's surviving letters.

Born in Arenia, she began taking piano lessons at the age of six and later found her way to the organ. She was accepted at the State Conservatory in Yerevan and received her training there from Anna and Sergej Saradjan.

Later she studied piano at the Cologne University of Music and Dance with Pavel Gililov and Jacob Leuschner. She attended the class of Barbara Szczepanska at the Robert Schumann Musikhochschule in Düsseldorf, where she passed her exam with honours.

Finally, she deepened her studies again at the University of Music and Dance in Cologne in the subject of song interpretation with Ulrich Eisenlohr. As part of numerous master classes, she worked with important musicians such as Ferenc Rados, Dmitry Bashkirow, Jacques Rouvier, Claudio Martínez Mehner and Hisako Kawamura, all of whom had an immense influence on her artistic development.
