Lied Duo
The concert “Ein Liederabend: Dichterliebe” by the duo Kildišius / Ter-Martirosyan was described by the Neuß-Grevenbroicher Zeitung as a “song recital of the highest class” and at the same time as a “touching romantic celebration.”
Their repertoire focuses on the German Romantic art song, especially song cycles such as Schumann’s “Dichterliebe” and “Liederkreis”, Wolf’s “Michelangelo Lieder”, Brahms’ “Vier ernste Gesänge”, but also includes Ravel’s “Don Quichotte à Dulcinée.” The duo is characterized by a great stylistic freedom. French chanson, Russian romance, English song, and Lithuanian daina are also important elements of their work.
Bass-baritone Tomas Kildišius and pianist Ani Ter-Martirosyan met during their studies at the Robert Schumann Hochschule in Düsseldorf, where they studied under the renowned professors for song and song interpretation, Konrad Jarnot and Hans Eijsackers. Since 2019, Ani Ter-Martirosyan has been studying song interpretation at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne with Prof. Ulrich Eisenlohr.
Together, they won third prize in 2019 at the Sieghard Rometsch Chamber Music Competition in Düsseldorf, and in 2020 received a special prize in the finals of the Lied Concours Groningen in the Netherlands. They were invited to perform at the internationally renowned Liedfestival in Zeist in 2020.
Tomas Kildišius and Ani Ter-Martirosyan are both scholarship holders of the Richard Wagner Association and the Deutschlandstipendium.
